When it comes to taping, many athletic trainers tape according to the textbook and conventional methods taught in there training. This ideology always is a good thing, but in certain situations, efficiency becomes more important than a wrap that is perfect. Brittany (mentor), told me that she doesn't take the basic conventional steps to tape, because most of the time she has to tape a whole team in a short window of time before a game or practice. The methods she uses to tape still perform the same functions, it's just being able to adjust to suit whatever the situations such as a rolled ankle in the middle of a game. In that situation she doesn't have time to make the wrap look pretty and perfect like the books show. This is one of the tips Brittany gave me during mentorship.
