Extra blog November

One of the main things I learn at mentorship is being knowledgable and accurate when dealing with injuries. Another main fundamental of being an athletic trainer is being prepared. Giving yourself prep time before games or practice is critical in acting quickly in certain situations. My mentor, Brittany, always arrives to practices or games thirty minutes early so she can prep her taping station or her heal and lace pads. She explained to me that doing these little things prevents them from getting in your way when an injury eventually happens. It allows you to act quicker and does not direct your focus away from diagnosing and treating the injury at hand.

Blog 10: EQ

1.  I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.

Essential Question 
 An essential question must:
  • Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
  • Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
  •  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)
2.  Review the following EQs and
  • Tell us if each meets the rule of three.
  • Tell why they do or don't.
 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
 "I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ."
 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
This eq fits the rule of three because, it has detail within the question, and does not have one specific answer to it. 
b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
The best thing this EQ does is be specific  about what they are asking
 c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
This EQ asks for debth in the research because it has to do with customer satisfaction and different hair styles. 
 d.  How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
This EQ does not fit the rule of three because, it is not detailed and sounds like a question you can answer with one Google search. 

3.  What is the best way an athletic trainer can accurately and quickly diagnose and treat an athletes injury?

Lesson 1 Reflection

1. Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?
In my lesson, I am most proud of the content/information that I was able to share and teach to my classmates. I also liked sharing what my mentor does for me during my mentorship hours.

2. Questions to Consider
I would give myself a P because I believe I met all of the P requirements and covered as much as I could during the lesson plan.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
The thing that worked for me during my lesson plan was, I was able to state the main points in my lesson, while still meeting all of the requirements.
4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
The thing that didn't work for me was my timing on my presentation, and how prepared I was. If I could go back, I would time out my presentation and practice my presentation. I would also try and make my lesson more organized.
